GHG Project
Agrifirm: Low carbon crops

Co-creating a sustainable food chain
Agrifirm is using its central role in agriculture to cut emissions directly on farms. The project connects farmers with food companies and agri-buyers, generating verified Scope 3 reductions through low-carbon practices.
2025 Pilot (Netherlands)
- Crops: winter wheat, summer barley, potatoes
- Scale: 10–30 farmers
- Verified reductions certified and sold to buyers, ensuring the transition is co-financed across the value chain.
Objectives
- Deliver real, measurable GHG reductions in line with the Proba Standard, SBTi, and GHG Protocol.
- Support farmers in adopting low-carbon practices while maintaining yields.
- Share costs and benefits fairly across the supply chain.
Expected Impact (Pilot)
- Winter Wheat: ~40% footprint reduction
- Summer Barley: ~50%
- Potatoes: ~10%
- ~550 tCO₂e total reduction
